Banning and Elimination of Styrofoam Containers
Another opportunity exists with customers operating in municipalities that are banning the use of Styrofoam or Polystyrene materials.
Many restaurants are currently using this material in most of their take-out or to-go boxing requirements. Although this material is inexpensive, Polystyrene offers no recycle ability. As a result, many of the larger and more progressive municipalities (Seattle, New York, Miami Beach, Florida, State of Maryland and Vancouver, British Columbia Canada) are banning the use of this material in any food container or food packaging products. It is just a matter of time before this is extended to other areas.

Comparison with Compostable Product
– REDUCE-REUSE-RECYCLE
Many comparisons for take-out containers will be made against Bagasse or other compostable product compositions. PP or MFPP has proven to perform superior to that of compostable materials.
Compostable material infrastructure will continue to struggle with the lack of scaled infrastructure to handle many reprocessing efforts.
Production of compostable product are significantly more expensive and generate increasing energy requirements and higher carbon emissions to manufacture.
The wholesale and retail pricing for Compostable (Bagasse, PLA, Bamboo) are more than double and in some cases triple that of Polypropylene (PP).
